MPD makes arrests in assault and embezzlement cases

MERIDIAN —     Two people have been charged with

crimes that reportedly occurred in the last several days.

Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the Meridian Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, said Thursday in a press release that Wendell Davis, 41, of Meridian, has been charged with aggravated domestic violence. Harper said Davis' arrest comes from an incident Wednesday morning where it is alleged Davis stabbed a family member during a domestic dispute. The wound was not life threatening, Harper said. Davis was placed on $75,000 bond.

Wednesday afternoon, Harper said Meridian police arrested 20-year-old Demarkus L. Johnson of Meridian and charged him with felony embezzlement. Harper said this charge stems from an incident that occurred on October 6 at a local business. Bond for Johnson was set at $15,000.
