Meridian Mardi Gras 2014 set for Saturday

MERIDIAN —      The Meridian Main Street for Meridian Mardi Gras is Saturday, February 22, 2014, on the front lawn of Meridian City Hall in downtown Meridian.

All the fun begins at 11 a.m. with craft vendors, food vendors, Gumbo Cook-off (with $500 going to the 1st place winner) and kids' activities including bouncy houses, balloon creations, face painting and more.

No Mardi Gras celebration would be complete without King Cakes which will be sponsored by YPM.

"The committee has worked extremely hard to bring Meridian and surrounding communities a bigger and better event than ever before.  We hope everyone will come out and have a fantastic time! The weather will be great and the live music will be incredible! " states Will Hays, committee chairman.

Mitchell Distributing is the presenting sponsor for the event.

The Krewe of Barkus Parade sponsored by Animal Medical Supply will roll out at noon. Casey Null, Parade Grand Marshal, will lead the Krewe of Midas Parade with the MHS Marching Band following.

Live music featuring Stagolee and other great musicians will highlight the day.  Bring the family out for a fun filled day of music, food, parades and more.
