Former EMCC athlete donates golf cart

MERIDIAN —     East Mississippi Community College Sports Hall of Fame member John Apple of Nashville recently donated a golf cart to the college during 2013 Homecoming festivities on the Scooba campus.

Apple, a multi-sport athlete who played football under legendary EMCC coach “Bull” Sullivan, is a 2012 inductee into the EMCC Sports Hall of Fame and is now in his 45th year with Boswell’s Golf Cars in the greater Nashville area.

Nick Clark, EMCC’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Alumni Affairs, said the cart is equipped with turn signals, a horn, a high speed transmission and a fold-down rear seat for transporting larger packages.

“It is without a doubt the fanciest golf cart in the EMCC fleet,” said Clark, offering a big thanks to Apple. “We are delighted with this tremendous gift. It will save us many a step in collecting the mail and perhaps even on trips to the bank.”
