Meridian has the best tasting water

MERIDIAN —     The City of Meridian has been awarded the title of Best Tasting Drinking Water from the Alabama/Mississippi Section of the American Water Works Association (AL/MS Section of AWWA).

The competition was sponsored by Section’s Young Professionals Committee and took place at the Section’s Annual Convention in Tunica, Miss., on Monday. Meridian competed against 19 other water systems in Alabama and Mississippi.

Water samples were scored on a scale of 1 to 10 by a panel of three judges in four categories, which were taste, odor, color, and clarity. The judges for the competition included a National AWWA official, a representative for the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, and a past AL/MS Section Chairman.

This victory advances the City of Meridian to the “Best of the Best” Taste Test at the AWWA Annual Conference and Exposition in Boston in June. There Meridian will compete against water providers from the 43 other Section’s of AWWA.
