Family dispute leads to man's death

MERIDIAN —     An ongoing family dispute has been attributed to a Wednesday shooting that left one Meridian man dead.

    Officials with the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department responded to a call of a shooting at 4:30 p.m. at a residence on Whippoorwill Road. According to Sheriff Billy Sollie, a trailer court is located behind the residence.

    James N. Hill, 55, was shot with a high caliber rifle through an open window of a trailer he was remodeling.

    Jeffery Jones, 51, of 8827 Whippoorwill Road, was charged Wednesday night with murder. Bond for Jones was set at $500,000. Jones is the owner of the trailer court.

    Investigation of the case is continuing the sheriff said.
