A Meridian man has been charged in connection with a shooting incident that occurred Friday morning.
Meridian Police Department Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, said Friday afternoon charges of shooting into an occupied vehicle against Brad D. Johnson, 22, had been filed. Johnson has been placed on $250,000 bond.
Harper said at about 8:30 a.m. Friday, a report of shots being fired in the area of St Paul Street and 29th Avenue was made. Upon arrival at the scene, MPD patrol officers were advised a pedestrian had shot at a man who was driving down the road. Officers learned that several bullets impacted the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
Harper said officers began canvasing the area armed with a description of the suspect. Harper said after a few minutes officers located and took Johnson into custody without further incident. Harper said Johnson was found by officers as Johnson walked along a road nearby the shooting scene. Harper said the weapon allegedly used in the incident was recovered.
Harper did not give any details in terms of a possible motive except to say both men knew each other adding that this was not a random shooting.
