MERIDIAN —     Longtime Meridian Little Theatre Director Jimmy Pigford died Monday at Rush Foundation Hospital.

Pigford, 80, of Lauderdale County, has served as the director of the Meridian Little Theatre for the past 50 years.

This was to be Pigford's farewell season with MLT.

"In addition to celebrating 80 years of live theatre, the Meridian Little Theatre is honoring our director," according to the MLT website. "He has been the director for the past 50 years and his dedication and leadership has run the show, but now he is preparing for his most difficult role yet — retirement."
