A man and a woman have been charged in the knife attack and robbery of a mother and child in a local businesses parking lot.
Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the Meridian Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, said Kelly Paul Brown Jr., 30, and Rachel Rowe, 29, have been charged in connection with the incident that reportedly occurred Saturday night in the Bonita Walmart parking lot. Brown has been charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault. Harper said the aggravated assault charge stems from Brown reportedly cutting the child of the female victim during the incident.
The child did not suffer life threatening injuries, said Harper.
Rowe was charged with armed robbery for her role in the incident, according to Harper.
Brown was placed on $500,000 bond on the armed robbery charge and $250,000 for the aggravated assault offense. Rowe's bond was set at $400,000.
Harper said Brown and Rowe were taken into custody by Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department deputies in Clarke County after authorities received a tip of the couple's whereabouts.
