Man stabbed during robbery attempt

MERIDIAN —     A man told police he was stabbed several times by two people during what he said was an attempted armed robbery.

According to Meridian Police Department Lt. John Griffith Thursday afternoon, the man was transported to a Meridian hospital after suffering several cut and stab wounds sustained in the attack.

"We believe at this time the incident took place at 18th Street and 18th Avenue," Griffith said. "The victim told detectives at the hospital that at least two people demanded the victim's cash and when he didn't give it to them they attacked him with a knife."

The wounds were not life threatening, Griffith said.

Griffith said detectives were working to get an accurate description of the suspects saying only they were two black men.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
