Car swerves into local ravine

At about 9:20 a.m. Monday, the driver of this Chrysler 300 decided to dive off into a ravine in the 3700 block of State Boulevard rather than hit a large oak tree on the side of the road. The driver of the car was slightly injured and taken to a Meridian hospital emergency room for evaluation and treatment. It was a struggle for a wrecker crew to extract the vehicle from the ravine. The car came to rest about 40 feet below the roadway. The owner of the car, who was not in the vehicle at the time of the accident, said he'd just gotten his car out of the automobile shop a week earlier.
