Man stopped at red light robbed at gunpoint

MERIDIAN —     A man stopped at a red light in Meridian Thursday night was robbed at gunpoint, according to a police report.

    When officers arrived on the scene, the victim, who was not hurt, told officers as he pulled up to a stop sign at the intersection of 49th Avenue and Fifth Street, three men bolted from the shadows.

    The victim told officers the three suspects rushed up to his window and while one held a handgun to his head, the other two robbed him of his money. The victim told officers the three suspects then ran away on foot.

    Meridian Police Department Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, said the suspects were described only as black males of average height and weight.

    Harper said if anyone has information pertaining to this crime they are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 601-485-1860.
