A man who was arrested last week after he was reportedly caught on a game camera stealing from a resident has some other charges added to his case.
Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department Chief Dep. Ward Calhoun said Jason Lawrence Wilson, 37, has further been charged with larceny and auto burglary as a result of the ongoing investigation.
Wilson is being held in the Lauderdale County jail pending further actions.
According to reports, Wilson was arrested and charged last week with DUI after he was identified as the man caught on a game camera a resident on West Lauderdale Road had placed at his storage shed. Calhoun said in the initial reports the resident had become suspicious someone was in and around his shed looking for something to steal. Images that were supplied to investigators with the LCSD showed a man, later identified as Wilson, walking off with what appeared to be a chain saw and other items.
Calhoun said armed with the images and an earlier interaction with a deputy, investigators could put a name with a face and positively identify the suspect as Wilson. An investigator with the department was able to locate and apprehend Wilson a couple of days later in the parking lot of a Meridian business.
Calhoun said these latest charges may not be the end for Wilson. Calhoun said there are other offenses that investigators will present to the next Lauderdale County grand jury for their consideration. Also, Calhoun said Wilson may have more charges coming his way from law enforcement agencies outside Lauderdale County.
