'What I am thankful for …'

(Continued)

MERIDIAN — I’m thankful for the precious care my Heavenly Father has provided me since my husband passed away in September.

    Mildred J.

I'm thankful for my family, to wake up every morning and to have shelter and clothes on my back.

I am thankful for God's amazing grace.Thankful He gives us opportunities to follow in His footsteps and serve others. Thankful He made a way when there was no way to be saved from our sins and to be forgiven.

I am so very thankful for my son and grandchildren for looking into their eyes I truly see the face of God.

Brenda Jefcoat, Meridian

Once again it is that time of the year that The Meridian Star asks us to write about "What you are thankful for."

I got out and read over what I have written about in the past. Most of the articles are about the same — my love for my children, their kindness to me.

Never a day goes by that they don't all three call and check on me.

I sat down in my recliner and was thinking about what a rough year I have had health-wise. Then I think how wonderful it is to come through all of this, still living in my own home and having my family and friends visit me.

I can go to my kitchen — not to cook a big meal the way I used to be able to do, but I can do a little. I cannot clean my house, but I still live in it and have help with my cleaning.

I can take my walker and move around the yard a little and feel the sunshine on my face and watch the cars pass by.

Some days when my knees are not hurting too badly I can even drive my car a little.

All of this and in the next year I will be 90 years of age.

I am still most thankful for my children and their spouses who are so good to me and I love very much; for my wonderful church life and all my good friends — all of the above is still true.

But I am most thankful for a privilege given to me that so many are denied — and that is the privilege God has given me of growing old. I have had a long and blessed life and have many happy memories. Again, I thank God for giving me the ability to remember those happy memories.

Sincerely,

    Eunice Marnell McDill, Meridian
