New FM radio station 'signs on'

OXFORD, Miss. —  A new Christian radio station is now serving Meridian and surrounding areas.

WWQD – 90.3 FM is broadcasting to West Central Mississippi, including all of the metro Meridian and Philadelphia areas, as well as Northwest Alabama. The radio station's 4,000-watts of power and non-directional signal is designed to reach more population centers.

WWQD – 90.3 FM is a new station of the Life FM Network – a nonprofit ministry of the Power Foundation, which has as its mission to reach the area with the gospel of Christ.

"The ministry of WWQD is to be a station for God, home, country and the church," according to a press release. "WWQD will feature and promote local-area churches in a radio ministry to bless and grow the local church.

"WWQD format includes the music that made Meridian famous - great 'Southern' gospel with a heavy sound of the Gaither-style music of today. Also, there will be quality Christian-talk, preaching programs with national and regional well-known speakers. We will feature and promote local-area churches that desire to grow their churches by having a radio ministry that reaches out to the masses."

WWQD is strategically-located to capture and serve the most interstate -listener traffic as possible. Meridian has two interstates and nine major U.S. and state highways – all of which WWQD will serve with its Christian programs.
