Three charged in chase

MERIDIAN —     Three men were charged in connection with a chase Wednesday night that began out in the county and ended in Meridian.

    According to jail records with the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, Robert S. Conwill, 21, of Hamilton and Bruce T. Fondren, 36 of Caledonia, were charged with filling out a false police report. Another man, Larry A. Justice, 34 of Meridian, was charged with DUI.

    LCSD authorities said the chase began around 11 p.m. in Daleville when a deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop on the SUV Justice was reportedly driving. When the SUV sped away the deputy gave chase. The chase went to Highway 39 where units from the Mississippi Highway Patrol joined the pursuit. The SUV ended in the parking lot of the Cefco Convenience store located on North Hills Street next to Hardee's. Units from the Meridian Police Department were also involved in the pursuit as the suspect vehicle entered the city limits on Highway 39.

    LCSD authorities said the investigation is continuing into the case.

    No one was injured during the chase.
