Police looking for shooting suspects

MERIDIAN —     One person is being treated for a gunshot wound, two people are being held, and several more subjects are being sought by local authorities in connection with a shooting incident Tuesday night.

Meridian Police Department Capt. Dean Harper, who is the commander of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, said the victim is expected to make a full recovery after she suffered a bullet wound to the lower torso.

Harper said two men in custody are listed as persons of interest. No charges have been filed in the case.

Harper said at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, MPD officers were directed by Central Dispatch to the Western Gardens Apartment Complex located on Old Highway 80 West to a report of shots being fired. When officers arrived they found where several bullets had struck four apartments and one vehicle. The woman, who Harper said is 20 years old, was found in one of the four apartments. She was transported to a Meridian hospital for emergency surgery.

Harper did not say when and where the two persons of interest were taken into custody. He says detectives are continuing the investigation and searching for several more suspects.
