MERIDIAN — From staff reports

Two armed robberies, one in which the suspects made off with money and items, and the other where the lone suspect ran away empty handed, are being investigated by detectives with the Meridian Police Department. According to a press release issued by MPD Lt. John Griffith, MPD authorities are trying to locate two black men who are said to have held up a convenience store clerk early Thursday morning. At about 3:30 a.m., the two men, at least one of which was armed with a handgun, walked into the convenience store located in the 1400 block of 24th Avenue with their faces covered. After robbing the clerk at gunpoint, the two suspects fled with cigarettes and an undetermined amount of cash, the press release states. The clerk was not hurt. A few hours later, at about 8:30 a.m., Griffith said a lone black man armed with a knife entered a business located in the 4400 block of 20th Street and demanded money. Griffith said the suspect ran out of the business without getting anything. If anyone has information about any of these incidents or the suspects, they are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 601-485-1860, or 311.
