McQueen completes basic training

MERIDIAN —     PFC Joshua B. McQueen of Meridian recently graduated from the U.S. Army Basic Training at Fort Benning, Ga.,  on Nov. 15, 2012.

    McQueen has successfully completed 10 weeks of intensive basic training, as one of the recruits in training for Alpha Company, 3rd Platoon, (1st Battalion, 46th Infantry Regiment).  McQueen received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and studies in Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included basic combat skills, battlefield operations, and tactics and experiencing use of various weapons and weapon defense.  

    Joshua was pinned as a sharpshooter in rifle and grenades. He is in a member of the Army National Guard and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Preston A. McQueen. He is the grandson of Mrs. Bobbie McQueen and the late Robert E. McQueen of Meehan and the late Henry and Theda Brand of Meridian.

    He was a 2012 graduate of Russell Christian Academy and is now attending Army AIT Schooling in Georgia. His MOS is in communications.
