Making a difference in education

MERIDIAN — Teachers were recognized Wednesday during the Mississippi Arts Commission's Whole Schools Institute at MSU-Meridian for making a different in arts education. Pictured here, from left, are LaVonda Germany, principal of Poplar Springs Elementary; Linda Guise, music teacher at Oakland Heights Elementary School; Holly Triplett, teacher at Poplar Springs Elementary School; and Suzanne McKee-Waddell, instructor at MSU-Meridian and former facilitator of the academically gifted and talented program at Waynesboro Elementary School. Germany was recognized as Outstanding Administrator of the Year; Guise received the Thad Cochran Distinguished Arts Educator - Music; Triplett was recognized as Thad Cochran Distinguished Arts Educator - Arts Integration; and Waddell received the Excellence in Higher Education Award.
