MERIDIAN —     Meridian Police Department officials are asking the public to help them find the persons responsible for shooting four people early Sunday morning.

MPD Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, said the four people were not seriously hurt by the gunfire but that detectives have little to go on.

"Details are sketchy at this time due to the lack of victim and witness cooperation," Harper says. "Officers were able to conclude that three handguns were used and between 10 and 15 rounds were fired."

At about 2:30 a.m., Harper says Meridian Police Department units responded to the shooting call in the 2500 block of Fifth Street. Upon arrival they found where four people had been hit by gunfire.

One of the victims was transported by ambulance to a Meridian hospital emergency room while the others were taken to the hospital by private vehicle. None of the injuries were considered life threatening.

Police ask if anyone has any information to please call CrimeStoppers 601-485-1860.
