The Meridian Star
David Majure of Meridian was recently selected as the newest member of the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi (DFM) Board of Directors.
Majure is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a bachelors degree in business. He is the president of Majure Office and Trucking, which operates a group of Fred’s franchise stores and pharmacies.
Majure has served on various community boards. as well as holding various church and religious positions.
“We are so honored to have a tremendously talented and passionate group of board members,” said DFM Executive Vice President Mary Fortune. “We look forward to a productive year as this new board works together to engage the public in health-related discourse while rallying the public around the cause of diabetes management and prevention.”
The DFM is the state’s only nonprofit health organization that provides diabetes information, patient services and advocacy, and its mission is to provide hope through programs, services and research to the 373,000 Mississippians with diabetes.
Every dollar raised by the DFM stays in the state to support these efforts. In addition, 90 cents of every dollar raised goes toward the organization’s charitable purposes. For this reason, the DFM received the coveted, Charity Navigator four-star rating — the highest rating awarded to nonprofit organizations and a title given to only 25 percent of all charities.
