Two teenagers have been charged in connection with armed robberies reported last Friday.
Meridian Police Department Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, said Tuesday morning Cordarius Rashad Powell, 19, and Javontee Terrell, 16, both of 5020 Fox Road in Meridian, have both been charged with armed robbery. Powell has also been charged with directing a youth to commit a felony.
Powell was placed on $250,000 bond on the robbery charge and $50,000 bond for the directing a youth to commit a felony offense. Terrell's bond on the robbery charge was set at $250,000.
The teens were charged Monday in connection with the armed robbery of the Shell Convenience Store on North Hills Street at about 6:20 a.m. Friday. Reports indicated two males entered the store and made off with an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register. The clerk was unhurt.
Reports also stated the same two males earlier in the morning attempted to rob the Cefco Convenience Store on Highway 19 North but were thwarted in that effort when the clerk fled into a back room and locked the door.
The suspects left without getting any money, police reported.
