Police release photo of suspect

MERIDIAN —    Authorities with the Meridian Police Department are trying to locate a man who they believe robbed at gunpoint a store in Meridian Monday morning.

    MPD Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the department's Criminal Investigation Division, released the photo of the man who he said acted alone in committing the robbery.

    Harper said at about 10:45 a.m. Monday police were called to the Paradise Food Mart located at 125 23rd Street to a report of an armed robbery. When officers arrived they were told the man came into the business and robbed the clerk at gunpoint. Harper said an undetermined amount of cash was reportedly taken in the incident. The clerk was unhurt.

    Harper said the ran away on foot. Police are asking for assistance from the community in getting this individual into custody.

    If anyone has information about the robbery they are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 601-485-1860. Information leading to the apprehension and conviction of criminals through Crime Stoppers can result in a cash reward.
