Arts Are Core Gallery event Monday

MERIDIAN —     The 2nd Annual MSU-Meridian Arts Are Core Gallery event will be held in the lobby of the College Park campus from 4-6 pm on Monday.  

    The Division of Education at MSU-Meridian and The Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education (MAAE) will co-sponsor the event.  

    The MAAE is a statewide organization that supports a balanced education which includes arts in education as a path to learning.  

    Also featured at the gallery event will be renowned artist, Greg Cartmell, who will present an "Informance" on landscape painting. Cartmell will talk about his creative process to produce a painting all while doing an actual painting.  

    Visual arts students from Meridian High School, Lauderdale County Schools, Lamar School, and MSU Creative Arts students as well as teaching artists Marsha Iverson and Mandy Goldman will display pieces of their artwork and be available to talk to visitors.

    Violin students from the Meridian Symphony Association's Strings program will provide music during the event.

    The community is invited to celebrate the imagination, creativity, and talent of local artists at this free event.
