Two arrested for area auto burglaries

MERIDIAN —     Wednesday afternoon officers from the Meridian Police Department were able to apprehend two men who they believe were responsible for auto burglaries in Meridian.

    Lt. John Griffith, executive officer for the MPD, said Corey Chambers and Kenneth Young Jr. have each been charged with two counts of auto burglary. Griffith said Young has been charged also with DUI, third offense. Young was placed on $15,000 bond for each of the two auto burglary offenses and an additional $25,000 bond for the DUI. Chambers was put on $10,000 bond for each of his auto burglary charges.

    Griffith said at about 2:15 a.m., officers were called to 2405 South Frontage Road to a report of a vehicle burglary. When officer arrived on the scene they located two suspects that turned out to be Chambers and Young, Griffith said. After a short foot pursuit, Chambers and Young were apprehended.
