Dance company offers events for locals

MERIDIAN —     Philadanco, the Philadelphia Dance Company coming to the MSU Riley Center for a performance on Friday, Nov. 2, is offering locals a chance to participate in several events this week.

    A specially choreographed performance for students in grades 5-12 will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday. The cost is $6 and reservations must be made by school personnel with the MSU Riley Center box office.     Also on Friday from 1-2:30 p.m. a free master class for college students will be held for area university dancers, professors, and area dance teachers. Participants are asked to register by today's date. E-mail Tabereaux or call (601) 696-2223.

    Prior to the Philadanco performance Friday a free performance lecture will be presented on modern dance at the MSU Riley Center, 6-7 p.m. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $21-$27, with group discounts available for groups of 20 or more.

    On Saturday, Nov. 3, a free dance workshop for area students will be held 10-11:30 a.m. for ages 8-adult. Participants for this workshop are asked to register today as well by calling Tabereaux at (601) 696-2223 or be e-mail at
