Man charged in armed robbery

MERIDIAN —     Meridian Police officers took a man into custody in connection with an armed robbery that happened Tuesday afternoon.

    Meridian Police Department Public Information Officer Dareall Thompson said Jemorreo Thomas, 18, is being charged with armed robbery.

    The robbery occurred on the 2200 block of 9th Avenue around noon.

    "Thomas approached a 16-year-old male victim with a gun and demanded the victim's belongings," said Thompson. "Thomas then fled the scene on foot with the victim's belongings."

    Thompson said officers were able to catch Thomas within minutes of the robbery. The victim was not injured in the incident.

    Thomas will have his initial hearing as early as Thursday. Thomas' bond was set at $75,000.
