Police arrests 2 in Friday night incidents

MERIDIAN — By Brandon Ward

Two arrests have been made over the weekend by the Meridian Police Department in connection with two separate incidents that occurred late Friday night.

Meridian Police Department Public Information Officer Dareall Thompson said officers first responded around midnight to a robbery and carjacking in the 2100 block of Mosby Road.

"The victim and the suspect knew each other," Thompson said. "They had been riding in the car together, when at one point the suspect demanded the victim's car and belongings."

The Patrol Division of the Meridian Police Department Meridian and Meridian Police Detectives arrested the suspect, whose name has not yet been released. The suspect arrested Saturday morning and taken to the Lauderdale County Detention Facility.

Thompson said police also made an arrest in the 1100 block of 18th Avenue after responding to a domestic call that resulted in two officers being injured.

Eric Lamont Nash, 27, was arrested and faces two counts of assaulting an officer and one count of felony domestic violence.

Thompson said a woman called police to the location after a disagreement got out of hand. When officers arrived, Nash allegedly cut them with a box cutter, police reported. The officers were treated at a Meridian hospital and released.

Nash's hearing was Monday afternoon. His bond is set at $200,000.
