Candidate forum to be aired live

MERIDIAN —     Candidates vying for the city of Meridian mayor's seat will participate in a candidate forum at Meridian Community College Thursday from 8-9 p.m.

    The event will be aired live on WTOK and streamed live online at and

    Sponsors for the candidate forum are The Meridian Star, WTOK and Meridian Community College.

    The mayoral candidates who will participate in the forum are Republican incumbent Cheri Barry; Democratic challenger Percy Bland; and Independent candidates Wally Hudnall and Walter Patton.

    WTOK News Director John Johnson will serve as mediator during the event to be held at MCC's Ivey Hall. The Meridian Star Executive Editor Michael Stewart and WTOK anchor Wade Phillips will serve as panelists.

    The event will be broadcast in front of a live audience. Only those with tickets will be allowed to enter Ivey Hall. There are no remaining tickets.
