Neshoba General Hospital ribbon cutting Sunday

MERIDIAN — PHILADELPHIA, Miss. — Neshoba County General Hospital-Nursing Home will celebrate the grand opening of its new $19 million facility on Sunday.  

    The ribbon cutting and open house will be at 2 p.m. under the hospital's new entrance. The hospital is located at 1001 Holland Ave., in Philadelphia,

    The new 52,600-square-foot hospital features 25 large, private patient rooms, surgery suite, and a pharmacy on the second floor, according to a press release.

    The first floor consists of a state-of-the-art emergency department, a four-bed intensive care unit, and a radiology department with an outpatient waiting area.  

    The work, which includes and addition and major renovations, was funded with $14.7 million in cash reserves and a $4 million CAP loan through the Mississippi Development Authority, according to the hospital's website.

    "Our new hospital has been in the works for a long time, so the grand opening is what our staff and community have all been waiting for," CEO Lonnie Graeber said. "It comes at the same time we are celebrating our 50th anniversary; and we look forward to providing our friends and neighbors with excellent healthcare for the next 50 years.”

    Hospital PR/Marketing Director Annette Watkins said hopes are that a big crowd will show up for the ribbon cutting.

    “Everyone is invited to tour the hospital and enjoy the good food,” Watkins said.
