Bank robbery suspect nabbed

MERIDIAN —     A juvenile girl was taken into custody and charged with attempted bank robbery after an incident that occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Lt. Dean Harper, commander of the Meridian Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, said the girl is being held pending the outcome of the investigation and formal charges being filed against her.

Harper said a bank robbery tone was initiated by an employee at Regions Bank, located at 546 Bonita Lakes Drive. Harper said units of the MPD and the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department responded to the location and began searching the immediate area for the suspect. The suspect was found and arrested without incident behind the hotel. MPD units could be seen in the Meridian Crossroads area as well as the Bonita Lakes Mall area.
