MERIDIAN —     A Meridian man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly rammed his vehicle into a car occupied by his child and the child's mother.

Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the Meridian Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, said that Dewan S. Burrage, 26, was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic violence, receiving stolen property and felony DUI.

Harper said because Burrage was already facing a felony DUI charge through the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, this DUI offense was upgraded to a felony as well. Bond for Burrage was set at $50,000 per charge.

Harper said following an argument with the mother of his child, Burrage allegedly rammed his vehicle into her car, which was also carrying their child.

Burrage caused the woman to wreck her car on 14th Street, Harper said. The woman suffered minor injuries and she was treated at the scene, Harper said, adding that neither the mother nor the child required hospitalization. MPD patrol units arrived on the scene and after a short foot pursuit were able to take Burrage into custody without further incident.

It was discovered during the following investigation that the vehicle Burrage was driving at the time of the incident was a stolen vehicle, police reported.
