The Mayor's Youth Leadership Council will host a Teen Summit on Crime at Meridian City Hall on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m., according to a press release from the office of Meridian Mayor Cheri Barry.
The city is inviting youth throughout the city to participate. Youth organizations will be asked to submit three questions regarding crime, public safety and emergency service in advance of the teen summit.
High schools throughout Meridian and Lauderdale County will also be asked to submit three questions.
The most asked questions will be answered during the crime summit by a panel that will include the mayor, the chief of police, criminal investigation division, patrol division, and public safety partners.
After the question and answer session, youth will have an opportunity to visit one-on-one with the panelists and additional members of law enforcement.
Only youth between the ages 13-18 can submit questions for the teen summit on crime.
"This is a night for our youth to have their voices heard," the press release states.
Youth organizations will also be asked to set up tables with information about their agencies and to encourage membership.
