A Meridian Police Department patrolman, making his normal rounds in the area of Front Street in downtown Meridian Tuesday night, was able to catch two suspects committing a crime.
Capt. Dean Harper, commander of the MPD's Criminal Investigation Division, said the two suspects, Marie S. Howard, 29., and Kentrell Ford, 33, were arrested on the spot by the officer and have each been charged with two counts of auto burglary. Bond for Howard and Ford was set at $30,000 each.
Harper said the patrolman was in the 1000 block of Front Street Tuesday night conducting his regular patrol duties when he reportedly observed Howard and Ford breaking into vehicles.
"They were caught in the act," Harper said. "Their cases will be presented to the next Lauderdale County grand jury for indictment consideration."
Howard and Ford are being held in the Lauderdale County Adult Detention Facility in downtown Meridian.
