Meridian native opens for Ronnie Dunn

MERIDIAN —     There’s a girl from Meridian whose singing and songwriting skills are turning heads in Nashville—and she’s coming home next month to open for country music legend Ronnie Dunn. On Friday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m., Meridian native Cheryl LuQuire will take the stage at the MSU Riley Center, firing up the crowd for headliner Dunn. Individual tickets for the show went on sale Monday.

“I grew up ankle deep in the delta blues and soul, knee deep in southern rock and roll, and up to my neck in country music,” LuQuire said. “My grandparents were farmers, my father was a railroad man and construction worker and my mother worked the assembly line at GM so I pretty much had to become a country singer!”

By combining these musical influences, LuQuire has set herself apart in Nashville with a widely appealing sound and an impressive live show.

“Cheryl has one of the most powerful voices in Nashville and an infectious personality on stage,” said Barrett Sellers of the William Morris Agency. “I don’t know how you could go see her live show and not want to go back again and again.”

LuQuire will release a five-song EP on iTunes in early September. Meridian is one of the early stops of her current tour.

Tickets are $69 and $63 at the MSU Riley Center box office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at 601-696-2200.
