MERIDIAN —     There will be a candidates forum tonight at 6:30 at the Conner Young  building at 412 26th Avenue.

Candidates for mayor have been invited to attend so they can share their plans with the public, according to the Rev. Steve Mosely of the Coalition of Community Leaders.

"We are having this forum so that the candidates can have an opportunity to present to the voters their platforms and the reasons they want their votes," Mosely said. "This is not a debate. It is a forum. Everyone will be on the same playing field. There will be no personal attacks."

The format is that each candidate will be called upon to answer three questions. They will also be allowed to give opening remarks.

"We just want to use this as an informational forum," he said. "In order for voters to make their decisions they need to know what the candidates' platforms are."

A  similar forum will be held Thursday night at 6:30 at the Conner Young building for candidates for city council.

The public is invited to attend both events.
