A man who was shot Thursday night died early Friday morning, turning an aggravated assault case into one of murder.
Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler said the victim is 29-year-old Fredricus D. Franklin of Meridian. Cobler said Franklin died from a single gunshot wound at 4:15 a.m. at Anderson Regional Medical Center's emergency room.
Lt. John Griffith, executive officer for the Meridian Police Department, said the shooting occurred at about 9:45 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of 19th Avenue and 24th Street.
Griffith said no arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.
This marks the fourth murder in Meridian in 2013.
