What a peace about nine years ago. We were blessed to meet a wonderful lady by the name of Luva Tolbert. Our first encounter was at the hospital. We were taken by how she was in so much pain but still able to smile. As years passed we even became closer. I couldn't recall her wasting a single day away complaining.
She was truly a virtuous woman. Although her medical condition turn for the worse her faith stayed strong. Remembering her day at church BTU, and choir practice. Mrs. Tolbert had a wonderful husband, Bill, for over 50 years and gave birth to a truly one of a kind devoted son, Keith. Even though her Alzheimer's disease progressed she still remembered her son and family. What a peace!
Reflecting on the day in the hospital, the peace in the room, the smile and glow on her face was amazing. I mentioned something to her about a band of angels coming for her and she smiled as her son and his wife, Esther, and me watched her make a peaceful exit.
At the funeral was where we got the big picture, she had arranged her homegoing from pianist to speakers to address the crowd. She wanted to let the crowd know that she was at home resting in the arms of Jesus. That's the song she wanted sung.
My prayer for this Christmas is that the peace of God that Luva Tolbert possessed would spread to all.
Peace on Earth, We love you,
Keith, Tarmecia and Brenda
