Lauderdale County Circuit Clerk Donna Jill Johnson said this morning that things have been moving pretty normally and expected this Election Day 2008. Currenty, there is a line that stretches outside of the courthouse, and many people are trying to find out where their precinct is. That is mainly due to many losing their voter registration cards that were sent in the mail, Johnson said.
"We're having people who don't know where to go, and people who haven't voted in 40 years showing at their old precinct," Johnson said. "We knew this was going to be a historically challenging election."
Johnson urges voters to refer to their voter registration card and look at your county precinct, and not your city precinct. If you've moved, Johnson asks that you come to the circuit clerks office with your new address, and they will give you a special letter to use at your correct precinct.
Check back frequently as we'll have election updates throughout the day.
