Authorities searching for inmate

By Brian Livingston / staff writer

Meridian Police Department officials confirmed Thursday afternoon that an inmate walked off from a work crew at about 10:30 a.m. and has yet to be located.

David Conner, 24, of Meridian was serving time for contempt of court, a misdemeanor, when he reportedly went missing. He was one of several men working on a crew in the Manning Street area when he apparently just walked off during a time when the crew supervisor was distracted.

"To my knowledge Conner is still at large," said MPD Lt. James Sharpe Thursday afternoon. "When we have him back in custody he will be facing an additional charge of misdemeanor escape."

Sharpe said Conner was wearing an orange inmate jumpsuit at the time of his escape.

If you know the whereabouts of Conner you are asked to contact the nearest law enforcement agency or call 911.
