Shooting death ruled suicide

By Brian Livingston / staff writer

The shooting death of a Lauderdale County man early Sunday morning has officially been ruled as a suicide.

Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler said Tuesday afternoon the autopsy results from Jackson stated the 57-year old male victim died as a result of a single gunshot wound to the chest. A small caliber handgun was recovered at the scene.

Lauderdale County Sheriff's deputies were called at 4:45 a.m. Sunday to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 5900 block of York Road. When deputies arrived they found the subject had died of a gunshot wound.

A death investigation was launched by investigators of the LCSD as is routine in any shooting death case.
