Massive blaze destroys home

By Brian Livingston

At about 11:45 a.m. the call went out to a structure fire located at 7979 Happy Hollow Road situated just off King Road in north-central Lauderdale County.

When firefighters from Suqualena, Bailey and Pine Springs volunteer fire departments arrived on the scene of the house fire late Monday morning, they found a two-story inferno. Immediately upon arrival a request for water tanker trucks was issued to help battle the intense flames.

After approximately an hour into the incident, officials made a request for additional volunteer firefighters to respond to the location to provide fresh manpower. Metro Ambulance paramedics were on the scene giving treatment to several firefighters for minor heat exhaustion.

No one was home at the time of the blaze and no one was seriously injured during the incident.

An investigation will likely be conducted to try and determine the cause of the fire.
