Peavey is auctioning a one-of-a-kind custom guitar to benefit the Miss Mississippi pageant’s scholarship program at www.peavey.com/missauction.
“More women receive cash scholarships from the Miss Mississippi Scholarship Foundation than from any other pageant foundation in the U.S.,” said Mary Peavey, president of Peavey Electronics. “Peavey is proud to donate the proceeds from this truly unique, Mississippi-crafted work of art to help build the next generation of Mississippi leaders.”
In commemoration of the 50th Miss Mississippi Crowning in Vicksburg, the Peavey Custom Shop Miss Mississippi guitar showcases the faces and signatures of the four Miss Mississippi winners who have brought the Miss America crown home to the Magnolia State: Mary Ann Mobley, Lynda Mead Shea, Cheryl Prewitt Salem and Susan Akin.
Of the 49 Miss Mississippi winners who were crowned in Vicksburg, 39 are expected to attend the 2007 pageant — including the three Miss America winners. The guitar will be autographed by all Miss Mississippi winners in attendance at the pageant.

This specially designed Peavey electric guitar is an example of the work now under way in the Peavey Custom Shop, located in Meridian where Hartley Peavey founded the globally successful company in 1965.
Peavey revolutionized guitar manufacturing in the 1970s with its T-60*, the first guitar made using CNC computer-controlled machinery, which bridged the gap between the vintage and modern eras in guitars.
