special to the star

The Mississippi State University Riley Center for Education and Performing Arts will announce its fourth annual performing arts season on Wednesday.
The center is hosting an after-work social from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for theater patrons, the media and public to hear the line-up of nationally and internationally touring artists that will make up the 2009-2010 season.
Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be provided.
"There will be plenty of surprises including a strong group of headliners as well as up-and-coming artists, covering a variety of genres," Penny Kemp, marketing director for the MSU Riley Center said. "We expect significant attention regionally and beyond for several of the artists we're bringing in this year, and we have a few changes planned for this season in response to patron feedback."
The MSU Riley Center is owned and operated by Mississippi State University and is affiliated with the MSU-Meridian Campus. For more information about the multi-faceted center, which provides educational programming, conference space and more than 30 performing arts events annually, visit www.msurileycenter.com or call (601) 696-2200.
"I encourage anyone who has a passion for performing arts, whether they've attended a Riley Center performance to date or not, to come down and learn about this year's season," Kemp said.
The season lineup is expected to be posted on the MSU Riley Center Web site on July 9.
