Nominate your dad for Father of the Year

Grand Prize: Amtrak trip for two to New Orleans

Your dad may be a hero, he may be well-known, or he may just be a regular guy who also happens to be an amazing father. Whatever the case, if you have a great dad, and you think he deserves to have a great father's day this year, you can nominate him for the Meridian Star's Father of the Year award.

The grand prize winner will be named Father of the Year 2008, and will be featured in a special Father's Day section of the Meridian Star, and will win two first class Amtrak tickets to New Orleans.

Runners-up will win one of several other prizes, which include a gift card from Chunky River Harley Davidson, ribeye steaks from Collinsville Piggly Wiggly, and a recliner from Ander's Furniture.

If you want to nominate your dad, just write a letter to The Meridian Star, saying in, 150 words or less, what makes your dad the best. Include a photo, and send your letter by e-mail to ddelshad@themeridianstar.com or by mail to:

People of all ages can send in nominations, the only requirement is that you have a great dad. The winning letter will be published in the special Father's Day section of The Meridian Star on Wednesday, June 11. The deadline for submissions is June 2 at 5 p.m., so hurry and send in your nominations so your dad will have a chance to be Father of the Year 2008.
