A Lauderdale County man died Wednesday night in a one-vehicle accident when his pickup truck reportedly slammed into an embankment at a high rate of speed.
Mark H. Oubrey, 48, of Briarwood Road, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash that occurred at about 9:35 p.m. Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler said a preliminary examination indicated Oubrey died as a result of a broken neck as a result of the impact.
"The air bags were deployed but there was no indication at the scene the victim was wearing a seat belt," said Cobler. "Autopsy results should be back in a couple of days."
The wreck scene was located at the intersection of Charlie Johnson and Antioch roads in Lauderdale County.
