Dianne and Butch Shannon enjoy watching the model trains with their grandson, Cooper Luke, 2, go around a large track built by the Meridian Model Railroad Club. The scale model trains were part of National Train Day, the anniversary of the completion of the first transcontinental railroad at Promontory Summit, Utah in 1869. The festivities, held at the City of Meridian Railroad Museum, next to Union Station, also featured a 1950 locomotive, photographs, railroad memorabilia and activities.
