A United States Air Force T-1 trainer stationed at Columbus Air Force Base in Columbus landed safely at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Key Field after declaring they had a flat tire.
Crash crews from the Mississippi Air National Guard's 186th Air Refueling Wing, along with crews of Meridian Regional Airport and from the city of Meridian were on scene in case the worst occurred.
But the USAF crew of three landed safely and no one was hurt.
The aircraft called an emergency after they monitored the left wing tire was flat after takeoff from Columbus. They diverted to Key Field because they needed a runway they could land directly into the strong southerly winds.
