GOP selects delegates, officers

Republicans from Lauderdale County held their county convention on Saturday, April 26, 2008 in the Circuit Court Room of the Lauderdale County Court House. The convention is held every four years to elect delegates and alternate delegates to the Statewide Republican Convention that was held in Jackson on May 10. Each of Mississippi’s 82 counties are allocated delegate positions based on the Republican voter turnout in the prior presidential election. Based on this turnout, Lauderdale County was slated with 7 1/2 delegates. Alternate delegates are also elected in the event that a delegate is unable to attend. The following delegates and alternate delegates were elected at the convention:

In addition to the election of delegates, the convention also elected the officers and members to serve on the Lauderdale County Republican Executive Committee for a four year term. The Convention elected three members from each supervisor’s district and three members at large:

Members of the newly elected Executive Committee then selected the following slate of officers to serve for a four year term:

Secretary: David Stevens
Treasurer: Derek Glicco

The State Republican Convention was held Saturday, May 10, at the Regency Hotel in Jackson.
