Paul B. Davis dead at 60

We just learned that Meridian native and singer Paul B. Davis died last night. He was 60.

Davis was born on April 21, 1948, and was best known for his radio hits and solo career in 1970.

Davis was a member of a local band called the "Six Soul Survivors" aroun 1966 and then in "Endless Chain. In 1968 he was a writer for the Malaco Records label in 1969.

Davis' first top 10 single was the song "I Go Crazy", which reached the #7 spot in 1978 and stayed in the top 100 for 40 weeks. At that time, that was the record for most consecutive weeks in the charts for a single-song record.
